Hygroscopic crystal elements deteriorate when they are not generally kept in sufficiently dry air (or maybe a dry purge gasoline). This applies e.g. to KDP and BBO, and in a lesser extent to LBO. It could be beneficial to help keep such a crystal at a rather elevated temperature, which makes it much easier to hold it dry.Furthermore, it has a vital
